The goal was to design an album cover for Latin American artist Residente that visually captures the emotional and political depth of the album while challenging the narrow idea that “America” refers only to the United States.
This project was made to represent America as a diverse, complex, and collective continent, honoring its resistance, identity, and Indigenous roots through bold visual storytelling.
I developed a fully illustrated concept using a striking red and black color palette to evoke urgency, strength, and rebellion. The composition features protesting hands to symbolize collective resistance and an Indigenous figure to center ancestral presence and cultural identity. Grainy textures were layered throughout the design to add rawness and intensity, reinforcing the album’s powerful tone. Every element was intentionally illustrated to maintain a cohesive, expressive, and unapologetically bold visual narrative.
