The goal was to design two illustrated beer labels for Collective Arts’ special edition “Daily Forecast: Mimosa” that visually embody the feeling of summer relaxation.
My process began with conceptual exploration around the emotional atmosphere of summer; heat, stillness, lightness, and escape. Instead of approaching the labels as purely decorative compositions, I focused on building a narrative tone that could feel spontaneous yet intentional. I use watercolor and painterly brushes to achieve organic variation and natural texture.
I experimented with layering techniques, grain, and subtle imperfections to avoid a flat digital look and create depth within the compositions. Color played a central role in the development stage. I also considered how the illustrations would wrap around the can, paying attention to composition flow, spacing, and focal hierarchy within a cylindrical surface.
The final outcome reflects a balance between expressive illustration, tactile texture, and intentional color storytelling.
